R39: Gold, Sterling and Opal Ring

Here is the finest Ethiopian natural opal I have ever seen. It weighs just under 16 carats and exhibits vivid and intense yellow, blue, green and orange play of color, easily visible under all lighting conditions, including natural sunlight. Under a strong incandescent light source, the play of color is nothing short of astonishing. The colors permeate the entire stone, from top to bottom and side to side, with no milky areas. I set this opal in a bull nose style 14k yellow gold rounded bezel and then added a contemporary sterling silver shank (the band) with two hammer set fine quality round diamonds, total weight .25 carat. The design is simple, allowing the eye to focus on the extraordinary natural opal.
