Light to dark gray and black Tahitian cultured pearls became important gems in the international pearl business in the 1970’s, and their reputation has only grown since then.   Sometimes purchased after the initial enjoyment of a Japanese white akoya cultured pearl, the classic dark color of the Tahitians compliments any dress style, informal to black tie.   If the pearl is this fine a quality, I feel it does not need diamonds to enhance it.
