R370: PLATINUM, SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, circa 1950

Lovely classic platinum ring from the 1940’s. The center gemstone is a beautiful dark blue 2 carats oval faceted sapphire (a true deep blue with no black), origin likely S’ri Lanka, natural color and clarity with silk inclusions. The blue color appears so bright and vivid that jewelers often call this type of blue sapphire electric blue. The sapphire is flanked by two matched bezel set baguette diamonds and 12 round diamonds.

Platinum, 3.1m grams; oval sapphire, weight about 2.07 carats; 14 diamonds, total weight about .18 carat.
